A street memorial
project to honor cyclists and pedestrians who have been killed on Victoria’s
streets.
We seek to
cultivate a compassionate and supportive community for survivors and friends of
those lost and to initiate a change in culture that fosters mutual respect
among all people who share the streets.
Volunteers
who work within the project will collect funds, build and install memorials.
They will identify dangerous practices like cyclists not using helmets, develop
education strategies and assist in reducing risks – like providing free helmets.
There are already 2 Ghost bikes in Melbourne erected by relatives of fallen riders - we aim to bring the Ghost Bike Project to Melbourne and Victoria in a larger scale.
Ghost News

The Ghost Bike that was errected for Carolyn Rawlings (Sept 08) has been removed.
A recent photo of the 3 statues the bike was next to shows it's absence.
The city run information centre only 30 yards away knew that the bike has been removed but couldn't say why.
I will visit the site for Kevin Smith (April 09) to check it's status.
